Mainstage Show of the Month: The iO Rep Presents JTS Brown/ Concept Album
Mainstage Performer of The Month: MOLLY HAWKEY
Molly grew up on a little farm just north of NYC with 4 destructive and hyperactive older brothers, a dad who mastered every profession and creative outlet he felt like, and a mom who broke new ground on Madsion Avenue at a time when women weren’t even allowed to step foot there. Molly’s family was WAY funnier and cooler than her but she held her own till she went off to Cornell…to study…Geology…and then Psychology. It’s true. She loves rocks and brains. Never mind that her childhood dream was to be a singing painting doctor and that she’d been in every school play and musical since she was 5. She had more important things to do. So after she graduated she moved to Alaska and became a commercial salmon fisherman.
What? Why would she do that? She wanted to be an actor! Well, you’re right, she was a little lost, I’ll admit, but at least she did some cool shit.
Eventually she made it to NYC and studied her acting ass off. She interned at the Actors Studio and took classes everywhere. She performed far off Broadway and went to plenty of open calls for things she was very very wrong for. It was during a summer acting conservatory at the Actors Center, doing a scene from Angels in America wearing a Balinese mask with special powers, that she decided it was time. She was ready. To move. To LA. So. She. Did.
7 years later she’s still workin her butt off trying to get her interests in order. Acting is still #1 but she spends a lot of time working on her headshot photography business and romanticizing about being a banjo pluckin’ folk singer and environmental activist. Thank goodness there’s improv. Whether she wants to be a singing painting doctor, a geologist, psychologist or an Appalachian mountain woman, she can always be anything she wants on the stage at iO!
Featured ADT Team: The List!
Featured ADT Performer: DAWN HUNNICUTT
Dawn Hunnicutt was born and raised in Hermosa Beach, CA. She went to Cal State Long Beach and studied English and then Cal State Fullerton to get her teaching credential. She taught at Troy High School in Fullerton before deciding to become a Real Housewife of Orange County where she now resides with her husband, Dave, of 20+ years and her two kids, Nathan 17 and Lindsay 15. Although parenting is all-fulfilling, she ventured out into the profession she always dreamed about and has done commercials for Fuel TV and 24 Hour Fitness and theatrical projects including the independent film “Actor” with Walter Koenig, a Discovery Channel television series, and the plays The Elephant Man and Taming of the Shrew. She hopes 2010 is her breakout year.
Featured Loft Show: PRETTY BIRD PRESENTS: TWO FOR THE SHOW!
Featured Loft Performer: TILT TYREE
Where to begin? Tilt Tyree was born once… then he did some stuff… got older… now he is doing stuff full time… He likes it… or so I am told, I am not really sure. We haven’t spoken in some time. He called me up the other day and asked that I write his bio for him because he feels that I know him better than he knows himself. I guess in a lot of ways that’s true. I was always a fan of Tilt… even when he was super small putting on magic shows for his neighbors. Tilt’s family could never afford the deluxe magic kit he so desired as a kid… or the star wars toys… or the bicycles… needless to say, Tilt became very good at making friends(mostly so he could use their magic kits, star wars toys and bicycles). The trend still continues, he befriended Maggy Keegan so that she would book shows for him. It’s a vicious cycle. Ok Ok, Tilt would like me to retract that statement. He says he doesn’t use Maggy Keegan for her organizational abilities. It’s just a nice plus he says.
I was told to write two paragraphs, so here is the second one. Tilt may not always get to come to your shows, but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t like you. I just want to make that clear. Tilt tries to see your shows when he can. He really tries. There is just only one Tilt and a million shows. And sometimes Tilt would rather just stare at people in the bar. Don’t be mad. He’s not THAT much of a jerk… ok maybe. So, yeah, there Tilt’s bio. Thank you for reading. – Kevin (I don’t know how to spell my own last name) Fedderline
