Roberto Alomar

Roberto Alomar was first conceived as an experimental show in 2006. Featuring an eclectic cast of seasoned improvisors - as well as new, prodigious talent - Roberto performed at the Ultimate Improv theatre every Saturday night for more than a year. Combining vulnerable, painfully emotional play with quick edits and sharp game work, Roberto soon became a Los Angeles sensation after a fifteen week run at the IOWest Cagematch.

Always seeking to break new ground, Roberto Alomar works throughout the theatre, diving into scenes in the audience, breaking the fourth wall, and incorporating serious, dramatic play in a show that weaves comedy and tragedy together into a oftentimes hard-hitting, honest piece. Under the direction of Billy Merritt, Roberto Alomar pushes at the boundaries of comedy—questioning what is funny, and inviting the audience to laugh at what is serious. They are extremely proud to call IOWest their new home!
